Field Tested, Franchise Approved: What NTV360 Training Actually Looks Like
If you’re looking into buying a franchise and wondering how much support you’ll really get, this episode of the NTV360 Podcast is worth your time. Our Director of Client Services, Quinn Varela, sits down with Senior Field Trainer Tyler Raney for a no-fluff, straight-talk look at what it’s like to build your business from day one, with someone in your corner.
Tyler isn’t just teaching franchisees how to pitch. He’s walking into businesses with them, showing them how to hold real conversations, get around gatekeepers, and land new venue partners. It’s practical. It’s hands-on. And it works.
“You’re not going to land venue partners from your living room,” Tyler says. “You have to go out and talk to people.”
Training with NTV360 doesn’t stop after a few Zoom calls. Tyler spends time in the field with new franchisees who purchase the Field Consultant Packages and helps them get them on their feet. He shares how he plans the day, walks them through local businesses, and models how to have conversations that lead somewhere.
And it’s not one-size-fits-all.
“Every person I train is different. I’m not trying to force anyone into a script. I just help them find their voice inside a process that already works.”
One story he tells is about working with a new franchisee who had never done sales before and was terrified to talk to strangers. So instead of starting with a cold pitch, they just practiced talking.
“We kept it simple. Just talk. Once that felt normal, we added layers, talking to strangers, then business owners, then making a pitch.”
That franchisee started landing locations in a matter of weeks.
“Motion Causes Emotion”
Tyler brings up a simple phrase he uses often: motion causes emotion. Basically, once a business owner starts picturing the screen on their wall, imagining their customers seeing it, pointing it out, and talking about it, they get excited. And that excitement helps seal the deal.
“We say things like: your screen, your ads, your clients. We walk around and ask, Where do you think this would get the most attention? That’s when it clicks for them.”
Tyler says most new franchisees have the same fear: they don’t want to seem annoying. They think they’re bothering business owners.
“But that’s just not the case. You’re bringing them value. You’re offering them visibility — advertising — without asking for money. That’s not annoying. That’s a favor.”
He also addresses the fear of rejection.
“Most of us think a ‘no’ means something about us. It doesn’t. The person doesn’t know you. It’s not personal. And honestly, no’s are part of the process. They move you closer to the yeses.”
The Support Doesn’t Stop After Day One
One of the best parts of the episode is hearing how much Tyler stays in the loop with the people he trains. He’s not just there to teach and leave.
“I tell every franchisee, text me when you land a location. Call me when something feels off. I’m here to help, not just critique. I want to celebrate with you.”
Franchisees who take him up on that tend to move faster and stay more motivated. He shares a story about someone who texts him after every win, and they break it down together. What worked, what felt good, what they’d do again.
“Having someone who gets what you’re going through makes a huge difference. I’ve done this. I know what it’s like.”
Don’t Wait for Perfect
Tyler’s seen a clear pattern. The franchisees who succeed are the ones who just start. The ones who wait for everything to be perfect tend to stall out.
“You can’t land a client by doing admin work all day. Just go out and talk to people.”
He shares how one franchisee spent weeks organizing contacts and perfecting materials, only to find out most of those leads didn’t even respond.
“Meanwhile, someone else was out just having conversations. They weren’t perfect. But they were moving. That’s the difference.”
Advice for New or Potential Franchisees
Tyler’s final story is about his first-ever sales experience: knocking on doors in the freezing cold, hoping no one would answer because he was too nervous to talk. He laughs about how badly it went — and how he learned by doing.
“The idea of the ‘born salesperson’? It’s a myth. I wasn’t one. Most people aren’t. But if you’re willing to show up and work, you’ll learn. I did.”
And that’s what NTV360 offers: a real business opportunity with real support. You don’t need to be perfect. You don’t need to be a natural. You just need to show up and take the first step.
